Just wanted to share some photos of my latest costume venture. Inspired (and I use the word "inspired" loosely) by Tia Dalma from Pirates of the Carribean movies, my new Voodoo Tiki Luau costume for our summer parties at Piratz. A bazillion thanks to discipuladc for snapping these - and a bazillion more thanks to her friend for the AWESOME octopus art. <3!

Gig last night at Fat Tuesdays was lots of fun. We performed pretty well, and despite the fact that I wasn't really in my groove, people seemed to like us. It's a neat bar.
Matt's in OC with the guys this weekend, so I got home after the show and spent some time with the kitty. Watched some of Erin Brockavich (never seen it), relaxed. Fell asleep on the couch. Purr.
Also, yesterday I turned in my thesis (the media's role in encouraging painful fashion practices for women) and internship papers, which means I have absolutely no work left to do for college forevahhhh! This is exciting.
So yes, all I have left to do is go to some rehearsal thing and graduate.
As for work, I still don't have any epic "now that i have a degree, i'm working this awesome job" job, but it'll come. I'm not really all that anxious to be a grown up yet.
So in honor of that statement, I dyed my hair purple last night for the show, and on may 11th or so, i'm buying myself a graduation piercing... Got a tattoo appointment for the 15th, and life is going to get a little counterculture for a while. I just spent the last 5(ish?) years being a hardworking smartypants, I think i've earned it.

Hey people...
Tonight Angel Row has a gig at Fletcher's in Fells Point (Baltimore) at 8pm. The band is pretty psyched about the show (we even got a plug on DC101) and it would be awesome if we had some fans there.
I know most of the people reading this live far as fuck away from DC, so driving to Baltimore is really out of the question, but I thought i'd throw it out there just in case.

| Brief Update on the Grad Schol Frenzy |

In the last 24 hours I have:
1. Applied to UMD's MA in Theater program under some assumption that it may involve costume design. I have no actual clue.
2. Filled out most of the application to UMD's MBA program. I have no idea why.
3. Decided I want to go into engineering (something undergrad has given me absolutely no preparation whatsoever for) and begun the application to Catholic University's Bioengineering and Mechanical Engineering programs.
4. Signed up to take the GRE test (i have no idea what this is nor do i care. only that grad schools require it). March 10. noon.
5. Written the first draft of my "please let me into your program even though it makes no sense" essay, in addition to my, "please give me this scholarship, because i need the money and promise i'm going to somehow make my end of the bargain (grad school) happen..."
6. Organized and bought about helf of the stuff we need for this trade show for my internship.
7. Made a dress.
I think that covers all the big and senseless stuff. I want to make artistic prosthetic limbs and stuff. I have no clue. But I am charging on a serious whim at full speed (as usual) and regardless of what actually makes sense, i can assure you all that something is going to happen.
I haven't gone completely apeshit yet. But I think i might be close. ;) |

1. Next month i am going to be inducted into Delta Epsilon Sigma... a national honor society for people graduating from catholic universities. as far as i can tell this only means; another thing on my grad. school apps. and potentially scholarship help... hopefully it'll actually result in some 'old boys club' type help in the future...
2. Applications for grad. school.... sigh. i'm on it.. or trying to be... applying for the Jack Kent Cooke Foundation scholarship, and i would really appreciate $50,000 in my pocket for grad. school costs... we'll see.
3. Tonight is Monica's birthday. surprises are in store. im excited, but there's never enough time in the damn day...
4. Was up until 4am putting together IKEA furnature with Matt. Not finished yet, but the apartment is hot sex. in a jacuzzi. you know. ;)
5. A million things to do before the day is done still. Just trying to keep motivated in the world of school etc. blahblah.

Estimate got back to us today - they couldn't get the hood off the car without taking it apart, so they said it would be a base of $5000, plus more when they actually get the damn hood off the see what else is broken...
So, needless to say, I am in the market for a car. The lowest I can find at Carmax is about $8000... Out of my price range.
Anyone getting rid of an old (and functional) car for cheap?

The owner of Piratz Tavern (www.piratztavern.com) is having a massive estate sale this weekend - what does this mean?? AWESOMELY HUGE AMOUNTS OF RANDOM KITCH AND COOLNESS!!!!
